It had a manual, and interesting pattern on the seat, but I still can’t figure it out. CARFAX returns nothing unusual.

It’s a T5M. It’s one of not many, depending on the year. 1998, for example, only 120 or so were imported with the bigger turbo and a stick. It’s entirely possible it’s the only one imported in that year in that color.

The patterned seats are out of an R Design. They had diamond patterned Alcantara inserts. 

And those wheels suck. There, I said it.

I understand why you think they suck, but consider the following: you are wrong.

I used to own a 1998 V70 T5M. Had an RN engine (2.3 liter out of a 2000 R Design), and a complete R interior. Tune, suspension, etc. It also had a third row seat. It was the best car I never should have sold.

They are soft, bend easily and don't look all that great. Comets are a better choice for these cars or Meteors if you want to run more sidewall.

Considered by many to be the best year. The throttle was no longer cable driven and was instead drive by wire and it had an upgraded ECU which is said to be better.
